A hydraulic press is definitely on the ‘want to have’ list for many people forging knives. The biggest obstacle is most likely the cost. That’s why I went the DIY route. Still not cheap to build a press like this but I prefer the "build it once, cry once" approach.
I took inspiration from a commercial C-frame press and adapted the design to my needs. It operates at 25t, 2.5 IPS.

My favorite way attaching handles to kitchen knives. Easy, strong, can be assembled/disassembled when working on the handle/blade. There was no epoxy used so far. The threaded rod is screwed into the wood. A little epoxy is used during final assembly.
